The historic May Company Building is one of Cleveland’s architectural gems. Listed in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, the building opened its doors in 1915 as the May Department Store. At the time, it was said to be the third-largest store in the nation. 

The May Company Building was designed by the famed architect and leader of the City Beautiful Movement, Daniel Burnham. With its white terra cotta facade and symmetrical detailing, the May Company Building is a fine example of the elegant architectural style that helped Burnham rise to fame.

The May Department Store closed for good in January 1993, and remained vacant for many years. In 2017, the building was purchased by Bedrock Cleveland and a full-scale, long-awaited rehabilitation project began. Today the historic May Company Building has been restored to its former glory, and retail leasing opportunities are now available.
